3.    Maison Jacques-Cantin


A centre offering temporary housing and help to autonomous people undergoing cancer treatment. The goal is to offer all the necessary amenities but also the warmth of a home.

4.    Moisson Montréal

5.    Little Brothers of the Poor


The main goal of the day-to-day activity of the organization is to offer love, comfort and emotional security to the very elderly (75 to 100 years old) who are alone. To hold out one’s hand to an old friend, to provide company to overcome solitude, to brighten the end of a life is in essence, the mission of the organization.

6.    CHSLD Nazaire-Piché


The mission of the CHSLD Nazaire-Piché is to offer, on a temporary or permanent basis, an alternative environment, lodging, assistance, support and supervision services as well as rehabilitation, psychosocial and nursing care and pharmaceutical and medical services to adults who, by reason of loss of functional or psychosocial autonomy, can no longer live in their natural environment, despite the support of their families and friends.

7.    Maison Répit Oasis


A relief and assistance centre for families with handicapped children. The centre also offers an early-childhood stimulation program for children aged 0 to 5 with developmental delays.

8.    Big Brothers Big Sisters


Big Brothers Big Sisters is an organization that offers a mentoring program to youngsters in need of a positive role model in their lives. Youngsters registered to this program obtain a 20% higher than average high school graduating rate, demonstrate a higher level of self-confidence and enjoy better family ties.

9.    Peter Hall School


Peter Hall School works with pupils from 4 to 21 years of age without distinction to race, language or religion who are intellectually handicapped and may have associated handicaps. The school offers educational services to pupils who live with their families, in foster homes, group homes, or hospitals in Montréal and in surrounding cities. It offers a special educational environment for the children, adolescents and young adults to learn, grow and develop. It offers a program adapted to each pupil’s particular needs, and its multidisciplinary team collaborates with all members of the pupil’s social network. It promotes the autonomy and integration of the students into the work force and the community, and gives support to the families to ensure the continuing development of the intellectually handicapped person.

10.    Héritage Laurentien


Héritage Laurentien is a non-profit organization with a mandate to protect and develop natural and historical heritage environments located in the St. Lawrence Valley. Their current territory covers the Lachine Rapids region, in the large La Prairie basin. They act as managers of natural environments in Montréal, in the boroughs of LaSalle and Verdun..

11.    Elizabeth House


Elizabeth House is a re-adaptation centre for young parents experiencing significant difficulty in adjusting to their pregnancy or to their role as parent and caregiver. It provides residential services to pregnant women, mothers and babies, as well as educational and community support services to enhance the parenting capacity of young mothers and fathers.

12.    Montreal Herstreet


Montreal Herstreet is a downtown community-based organization committed to its mission of helping homeless women and women in difficulty. Thanks to the success of its 2002 campaign “Under One Roof,” Herstreet opened a new multiservice center complete with an integrated housing unit called the Olga House.

Each year, more than 400 women in distress seek their help. Day after day, they help them get back on their feet. With each new woman helped, Herstreet opens up a path towards inclusion.

13.    CPE


A « Centre de la petite enfance » (early learning child care center) in a disadvantaged downtown neighborhood. (CPE to be determined)

Quality educational child care, diversified and adapted to the needs of families. CPEs are non profit, private and autonomous social economy enterprises, characterized by democratic governance by parent users. Parents are at the center of the organizations’ decisions. CPEs offer services adapted to the needs and the lives of children and their parents. They also contribute to job creation, economic vitality and quality of life of families in the communities.

14.    Habitations Jeanne-Mance


Apartment for underprivileged seniors. The Habitations Jeanne-Mance were build in the late 50s in order to eliminate the slums located between Sainte-Catherine and Ontario streets. Authorities at the time had two goals: to improve the situation of the tenants in that part of the city and to cut back on the number of bawdy houses the Red-Light district. With almost 800 dwelling units, the Habitations Jeanne-Mance housed close to 3,000 people shortly after they were built.

15.    Refuge Juan Moreno


The protection of the human rights of women, children and unaccompanied minors seeking asylum in Canada is the core of the mission of Refuge Juan Moreno. Refuge Juan Moreno opened its doors in August 1993 in response to the growing need for an organization for the protection of the rights of women and children who are refugee claimants. Many women and children arrive here traumatized by events in their respective countries. The caring and trained staff of Juan Moreno assists new residents in planning the necessary steps to obtain the refugee status.

16.    Le Centre de la nature du Mont Saint-Hilaire


The centre’s mission is to: 1) conserve the mountain’s natural heritage; 2) provide contact with nature; 3) promote the conservation of natural environments in the region. Recognized by Unesco as the first biosphere reserve in Canada, Mont Saint-Hilaire is the region’s largest natural heritage site. Volunteer work is one way to contribute to natural environment conservation, to display leadership and to take affirmative action towards the protection of the mountain.

18.    Montreal Children’s Hospital


The doctors, nurses and staff consider themselves part of the extended family and the hospital as a home when your child is not well. They welcome, support and respect each child, teenager and family member that comes through their doors. It is their responsibility to make sure Quebec children have timely access to treatment in a caring environment. Their goal is not only to provide groundbreaking care but also to develop and recommend measures that will help prevent illness and injury before they happen.

19.    The Lighthouse, Children and Families


The Lighthouse, Children and Families, a non-profit organization established in 1999, was created to provide three free programs of support and assistance for parents who have a child suffering from a degenerative or terminal disease or a serious disability requiring complex care: in-home visits, stays at Maison André-Gratton and palliative care. The Lighthouse, Children and Families is dedicated to assisting parents so they can take the time to rest, recuperate, and momentarily get away from the stress of taking care of their children all by themselves.

20.    Fondation du Centre Jeunesse de Montréal


La Fondation du Centre jeunesse de Montréal has undertaken to improve the welfare and the future of children entrusted to the Director of Youth Protection (DYP). The Fondation carries out this work as follows: address urgent critical needs; make it possible to celebrate as other children significant events in their lives (birthday, Christmas, etc.); develop age-appropriate programs and provide them with positive and fulfilling sport or cultural experiences; help young people to transition from childhood to adulthood as harmoniously as possible; support foster homes who take care of them.
